Some women experience nipple pain and swelling while pumping.

Nipples swelling while pumping is a condition that many women experience. It can be due to some common reasons and/or it may be something more serious than you should go see your doctor about.

You might feel some sharp pains and some tender spots, and the skin around the nipples will feel warm and puffy. You might even be able to see swelling in the areolas. All of these are signs that you're actually doing it right!

Pumping can also cause your breasts to feel heavy, whereas before you were used to feeling nothing at all on your chest. This is because when the milk begins to flow, your body will produce less fluid, so over time it might get harder for you to tell the difference between the two.
