The ethicality of acrylic nails. Are they against animal cruelty? The debate is still open, but to make a decision, we should look at how it is made. Acrylic nails are often created with a chemical mix that includes methyl methacrylate and resin materials that come from animals or plants. So if you're vegan, this might not be your first choice for a manicure.

However, there are some fully vegan options for acrylic nails with resin-free gels. These products are ethically sourced and create the same glossy manicured look as animal-based products. They come in powder form with an activator (base) that you mix together before applying it to your nail bed. The result is a shiny manicure that can last up to two weeks.

If you're thinking of getting acrylic nails, but are vegan, be sure to ask about the ingredients in any product before making a decision. By doing so, you will know whether or not your manicure contains animal products and if it is possible against your ethics.
