Persistence is a huge key to success. No matter what it is-whether in sports, academics, or in life in general-persistence and determination are the key to overcoming obstacles and getting what you want. When we’re faced with adversity, we can either give up or fight for our dreams and the things we love most in life. If you believe in yourself and your abilities enough to work hard and persevere through tough moments with resilience, determination, and grit, you will be able to achieve anything.

That’s why persistence is such great quality. It makes you stay focused and try continuously (even when things get hard) to get what you want. It also makes you trust yourself and your abilities, which encourages you to do your best at whatever it is that you’re doing.

But persistence does not come to mind when thinking of other virtues like humility or courage. Persistence is often seen as a negative, stubborn trait; it’s often frowned upon because to persevere at something requires the confidence and conviction that one will succeed—which requires huge amounts of pride. But if you can combine persistence with humility, determination, and grit, your persistence can fuel your growth mindset, which can help you achieve anything.

So persistence fueling a growth mindset is a good thing because with a “growth mindset” one doesn't just assume that they have an innate talent or ability that will propel them to success without any effort on their part. Instead, people who have a “growth mindset” believe that through hard work and effort they can increase their abilities and achieve almost anything.

This growth mindset is what people such as Michael Jordan or Oprah Winfrey have, which allows them to succeed in the face of any amount of adversity. They don't let setbacks stop them from pursuing greatness because they know that with determination, perseverance, and confidence in their abilities they can achieve anything.

Persistence fuels a “growth mindset” because if you persevere and trust yourself to succeed, it will help you overcome any difficulties that may come your way and allow you to ultimately achieve your goals. So essentially persistence is what helps people with a growth mindset become successful—it gives them the courage and confidence to achieve anything.

So if you’re ever feeling like you can’t achieve something, remember that it’s important not to give up and stop trying before you succeed; instead, tell yourself to persevere and continue tilting at those windmills—because persistence is what fuels a growth mindset, and persistence is what fuels success.
