After you start taking this drug, it may take 2 to 4 days before you have a bowel movement. Take only the medicines that you were advised to take the morning before your procedure. Ask your doctor who prescribes your diabetes medication what you should do the night before and the morning of your procedure.

Stop taking fish oil, vitamin E, and any other oily vitamins 7 days before your procedure. If you are taking Coumadin/Warfarin, Plavix, Efficient, Pletal, or any other blood thinner, ask your healthcare provider if you can stop taking these medicines 5 to 7 days before your procedure. Take once a day as needed and do not take for more than a week unless directed by a doctor.

After you start using Miralax, it may take up to four days to have a bowel movement. Taking MiraLAX in the morning can cause bowel movements during the day. However, it is best to take MiraLAX in the morning, before meals, and at least an hour before other medicines.

You can take MiraLAX any time of the day when you are constipated. In general, laxatives like Miralax are best taken in the morning. You should only take Miralax once a day unless your doctor tells you otherwise. If you take too much Miralax, stop taking it and drink plenty of fluids.

It is important to talk to your doctor if you are taking digoxin and want to take Miralax. Miralax should only be taken for occasional constipation, usually for no longer than a week. If you are using over-the-counter polyethylene glycol to self-treat occasional constipation and this treatment has not helped after 7 days, talk to your doctor for further treatment advice.
