It is important to exfoliate both before and after shaving. This will help to remove any dry, dead skin cells that might clog your pores. Exfoliating before will help the razor glide effortlessly over the surface of your skin while exfoliating after can prevent ingrown hairs from forming.

How to Exfoliate Your Skin Before Shaving

You have two options when it comes to exfoliating your skin before shaving. Either you use a mild scrub or you steam bath. Both are effective but the steam bath is thought by many to be more beneficial because it opens up all of your pores before you even begin to shave.

Exfoliate Your Skin After Shaving

After you have shaved it is important to exfoliate your skin. This will help get rid of any dead skin cells and ensure the hair follicles don't become clogged. Try using a scrub following your next shave and see how soft and smooth your skin feels afterward.

No matter which exfoliation method you choose, be sure to always apply a shaving cream or soap before you start. This will allow the razor to glide effortlessly across your skin. Always follow up by applying some type of aftershave balm or lotion that contains aloe vera and moisturizer.

And don't forget to shave in the direction that the hair grows. This will prevent ingrown hairs from occurring which can lead to an infection.
